At first glance, this tea might look faint. But don’t let the color fool you—this single cultivar Fukamushi Sencha from Kyushu is full of umami and complexity. One of the most dynamic teas in my stash, I rebrew it at least four times and each steep offers something new.
Grown in a region known for its pristine spring water and high-quality cultivation practices, Kyushu teas are deeply rooted in terroir. I first encountered this gem in 2023 at the World Tea Festival in Osaka and was immediately drawn in by its clarity and layered flavor profile.
