In Memory of the Daisosho — A Legacy of Tea and Peace

Today, the Urasenkei community and tea practitioners worldwide are mourning the loss of the Daisosho.

Known for his unwavering dedication to the way of tea — chadō — he spent his life sharing its philosophy of wa, kei, sei, jaku (harmony, respect, purity, tranquility) far beyond Japan’s shores.

This photograph, taken in Honolulu with a lei around his neck, reflects the warmth and openness with which he approached every encounter. Whether in a grand tea gathering or a quiet one-on-one tea sharing, he reminded us that tea is more than a beverage — it’s a bridge of understanding, a shared moment of humanity.

Thank you, Daisosho, for your extraordinary life’s work, for your vision of global connection, and for teaching us that peace can be poured into a cup and passed hand to hand. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations of tea practitioners.

(lol you can tell how much my mother adored the Daisosho. ❤️🍵✨)
