June Reflections: “In Sake Is Life” — Clifton Karhu’s Quiet Wisdom

This month, my Clifton Karhu calendar simply reads:
“In sake is life.”🍶

It made me smile.
It made me exhale.
And it made me think about how often joy is found in the smallest cups—especially the ones we raise with friends, in good health, or in solitude at the end of a long day.

Karhu’s bold woodblock prints, rooted in Kyoto’s quiet corners and everyday magic, feel like poetry without needing explanation. They’re a visual reminder that life is art—and sometimes, sake too.

For those unfamiliar with his work, I highly recommend exploring more via instagram  @karhustudiokyoto. Each print is a moment. Each month, a meditation.

So here's to June. Here's to sake.
Here’s to finding life—everywhere.
