Kodomo no Hi: A Day of Play and Culture

Kodomo no Hi: A Day of Play and Culture

Kodomo no Hi, or Children’s Day, is a celebration of growth, happiness, and the spirit of youth.

Marked by the image of koinobori — colorful koi streamers — the day symbolizes strength, resilience, and the hope that children will grow up healthy and strong.

This year, Flowering Waters will be participating in the Kodomo no Hi Festival at the Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington in Seattle.

📅 Sunday, May 3, 2026

🎏 Japanese Culture & Community Center of Washington
⏰ 11AM–5PM

This free community event offers a full day of cultural experiences, including traditional festival games, hands-on crafts, live performances, and Japanese food.

Visitors can try omikuji (fortune telling), enjoy taiko drumming and martial arts demonstrations, and take part in crafting their own koinobori.

Flowering Waters will be sharing samples of Japanese tea classics and offering a small festive discount on available inventory.

It’s a day to gather, to play, and to experience the beauty of Japanese culture in a welcoming, joyful setting.
