Sakura Season and the Beauty of One Moment
Share
Every spring, there is a particular kind of beauty that returns — one that feels both joyful and slightly bittersweet.
Sakura.
Cherry blossoms bloom with remarkable delicacy. For a brief moment, trees are covered in soft clouds of pink and white. And just as quickly as they appear, they begin to fall.
Watching them blossom is one of my favorite life experiences.
In Japanese culture, cherry blossoms have long symbolized the fleeting nature of life. Their short bloom reminds us that beauty is often temporary — and that is precisely what makes it so meaningful.
In the world of tea, there is a phrase that expresses this idea perfectly:
一期一会 (Ichigo Ichie)
“One time, one meeting.”
It suggests that every encounter is unique and will never happen again in exactly the same way.
A tea gathering.
A conversation with a friend.
A quiet moment watching blossoms fall.
Each moment is unrepeatable.
Sakura season gently teaches us to slow down and appreciate what is right in front of us — because life, like cherry blossoms, is short and sweet.
And when something beautiful appears, it deserves our full attention.
