The Matcha Spilled and I Kept the Video Anyway
Share
Recently I filmed a Jyoraku matcha session that wasn't exactly how I imagined.
I spilled.
Immediately, I had the urge to stop, clean it up, and start over.
I think many of us do that — not only with tea, but with life.
We think:
That wasn't right.
Do it over.
Make it cleaner.
Make it better.
But I sat with it for a moment and realized:
Maybe this was actually the one I wanted to share.
There is a Japanese philosophy called 侘び寂び (Wabi-Sabi) — finding beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity.
Tea ceremony quietly teaches this.
No bowl is identical.
No flower arrangement is identical.
No season repeats itself exactly the same way.
And no moment arrives twice.
I haven't posted in a little while, and I wanted to slowly lean back into my purpose.
More than matcha, Flowering Waters has always been about creating a small space that feels:
real,
soothing,
grounding,
and powerful.
To everyone who has followed along, attended events, shared tea with me, or simply spent time here:
thank you.
The keys to the kingdom of paradise were never hidden in perfection.
Maybe they were always sitting quietly inside us.
Spills and all.
