Welcoming the New Year with Osechi Ryōri & Gratitude

This New Year, I had the joy of sharing a mini osechi ryōri, lovingly handmade by a dear friend. Osechi is a traditional Japanese New Year’s meal, prepared with intention and symbolism—each dish representing wishes for health, prosperity, joy, and longevity.

Historically, osechi allowed families to rest during the first days of the year, but more than that, it invites us to pause, reflect, and begin again with care. Much like tea, osechi is about presence, gratitude, and honoring the moment you’re in.

As I step into 2026, I want to say thank you—to everyone who has supported Flowering Waters, shared a cup of tea with me, or simply followed along. Your kindness, curiosity, and encouragement mean more than you know.

Here’s to a year of slowing down, savoring, and letting beauty unfold—one cup, one moment at a time. 🍵🌿
