A Kozan-Yaki Chawan, Taro Wagashi & Jyoraku Matcha: A Tea Moment in Harmony

A Kozan-Yaki Chawan, Taro Wagashi & Jyoraku Matcha: A Tea Moment in Harmony

Today’s tea time was a quiet indulgence in balance:
Bitterness and sweetness. Rustic and refined. Earth and sky.

I whisked a bowl of Jyoraku Matcha, our ceremonial-grade blend from Kyoto, and paired it with a gentle, dreamy taro wagashi from Tokaragashi. Every bite and sip felt soft and intentional.

The moment became even more grounded thanks to the Kozan-yaki chawan I used—a handcrafted ceramic from Kyushu. Kozan-yaki (古山焼) is known for its natural, unglazed textures and warm, humble presence. It adds a kind of quiet strength to the tea ritual that I always appreciate.

Savoring a sweet. Holding warmth in my hands. Being present.
This is why I love tea.
